Monday thoughts #4 : I want to travel the world, but first…?

Maybe the places on these pictures looks very familiar for you, guys. Maybe you’ve been there. But I have only seen it on pictures. I haven’t been anywhere! It’s my ultimate dream to travel the whole world. These are just some of the few countries I wish to visit before I reach the age of 30. But there’s a lot more, they’re just too much to be mentioned one by one. Nobody can deny the beauty of our world. It’s too beautiful not to be seen by our naked eyes.

Somebody once told me, “Stand up and go somewhere nice and beautiful. Travel and see the world while you still can because after 20 years, you will not regret the things that you did, but the things that you did not do.” Which I thought is true.

So by then I’ve decided. I want to see the whole world with my own eyes. I want to meet different people and try to understand their culture. I want to share our own culture as well. I want to travel and be on different places before I cant do it anymore then in the future, I can look at my pictures and I can say,

Ive been there. Ive understood the people. Not by their language but by their culture. For a few days  i felt what they are feeling. It was a bit strange but those days, i somehow felt more alive.

Ive been there. I have witnessed the beauty of that place. Thank God for His wonderful creation. A creation which is made by love and must be a subject of the people’s love too. For a moment I thought I saw a glimpse of heaven, but i somehow felt more alive.”

But…..

I told you guys, I have never been anywhere!!! I’ve never even travelled my own country!

Hello hello hello Philippines! As far as you may know, Philippines are rich of beautiful places that you could visit. Nature is our big trend! But who am I to say these things wherein fact I did not yet visit any of these places. Then i thought, if I want to travel the world, I should at least travel around my country first right?

For sure I will!! And I believe I will be starting in a few months. Kung may kabayan readers diyan! Any suggestions of places sa unang gala ko sa pinas? Comment below!

Ps: I was supposed to post this last night but something came up. I hope you guys understand!

Food Wed: Rice Overdose Food and Restaurant Review

Honestly speaking, I did not feel the pressure of being an OFW even on my first days here in UAE. Aside from I already have my family here, it is also because there are a lot of Kabayans everywhere. Literally, EVERYWHERE. Every corner of the city you can find them, it’s impossible if not. That means, you can also find a lot of Filipino restaurants here hiding at the corners of Abu dhabi. Luckily, we found a fantastic one!

Rice_Overdose.jpg

RICE OVERDOSE — The Higher the Dosage the Better! I’ve always been a fan of unli-rice (Unlimited Rice) restaurants, even since when I was in the Philippines. In a country wherein most of the people will not live without eating rice, restaurants offering this kind of services is on top hit. So hands up to the owner of Rice Overdose for bringing this concept here in UAE!

I’ve been in Rice Overdose for a couple of times already and it’s always jam-packed especially at night. You can barely find a seat for you and your companions. But it’s fine because the staff will accommodate you well.

STAFF

There is always somebody who will greet you as soon as you enter the restaurant. Even though during the rush hour, somebody will accommodate you properly. What admires me well with the staff is that they barely use pen and paper while taking orders, not even using tablet or anything. They will just ask for your order and then what you need to do next is to wait for your order. But of course they still need to write it down after to give to the kitchen crew.

MENU

The menu was arranged nicely with pictures every dish. It’s good for those who are lazy enough to read what’s on the menu. Believe me or not, there are some people who are like that (me). I also think that their menu looks appetizing. It will make you order more just by looking at it. *confetti*

PLACE

I wasn’t able to take pictures of the whole place because really, it’s too crowded all of the time. I only took these two pictures when I came one morning, but I did not thought about taking a picture of the place as well. Sorry for that. But as you can see, the wall were painted with a nice shade of green. One side of the wall have a very nice design of bricks.

FOOD

And for the most exciting part of this review, the Food. Unfortunately, some disaster happened to my mobile which causes all of my files including photos and videos deleted. ALL. The only picture I was able to keep was this photo from my instagram again.

As you can notice there were two different colors of the rice. What I like the most about Rice Overdose, aside from the until rice concept, is also the three types of rice that they offer for their kabayan customers. Namely, Adobo Rice, Steak Rice and last but not the least, Bagoong Rice. Just thinking about it makes me drool ** sorry.  As I was saying, they are offering three types of rice. These three names mentioned are names of famous Filipino Viands. But since I am alleric to Bagoong, I’ve only tasted the other two and my favorite one is the Steak Rice. I find the adobo rice a little too oily. Of course, they are also serving plain rice.

Rice overdose have different variety of foods that you can choose from. They offer beef, chicken, fish, seafoods, sushi, pancit, and other snacks that you can only find in the philippines. Namely,  Puto bumbong, Bibingkinitan, Bibinka etc.  Last but not the list, is what I think the OFWs miss the most! ISAW. Maybe not the most… haha but for me, it is. Yes, that’s right! They are offering the famous Filipino Street food, Isaw and also, Chicken feet and Gizzard. I know for some of you it may sound weird, but don’t jude it unless you’ve tasted it already. Believe me or not it tastes super yummy. Just make sure they’re cleaning it well though. Okay enough of that!

All in all, I can say that this restaurant can be rated at a very score of 4.2. Not because I came from the Philippines, but because I really love it’s warm place and very accomodating staff. Food is good too!

Go and Try! I dare you to taste Isaw though. *Wink*

Monday thoughts #3 : What he meant when he said it

“I don’t want Music to be my job” I will not name him nor state my relationship with the person who said this line to me. But his line had left me too much question which I cannot answer for a very long time. I kept on asking him the reason why but he only answered me with a sly smile.

Then while I was walking on the streets going to the venue of my first ever legit paid gig, this line hit my head like an arrow crossed through my brain. I know it’s a little bit of an exaggeration, but believe me it’s something you might feel when you’re nervous or when you feel like your heart will burst out your chest. I was nervous.

I always love music and I always admire those artists that I can see perform on stage. People enjoy their music so much. These artists share their talents to everybody and inspire them. And so I was inspired. I always thought that behind those fun performances on stage, these artists also share the same smiles behind the curtains. I was jealous of that feeling and I want to feel the same way but I somehow feel differently that afternoon.

I was singing in front of a lot of people. I can see their smiles and that made me feel happy. They appreciate my voice and the way I performed. I shared my talent and that made them smile. I told myself, “That’s what exactly what you wish would happen” but at the same time the pressure entered the scene and made everything blurred. Only then did I realize what he meant when he said that phrase.

Music is a way to escape from reality. When you’re sad and you want to be alone, sometimes putting your headphones on and lock yourself inside your room can be the best solution. When your happy, playing some happy songs can add up to the mood. Others use songs to tell somebody what they really want to say that they can’t say by mere words. People make music as a tool for expressing what they really feel. Most of the songwriters write songs based on their experiences. That’s the beauty of music.

When you make music as your job, things will go a little bit different. You’re obliged to practice some songs even though you don’t want to sing it. You’ll be forced to go perform on stage even though you don’t feel like it or you’re tired. There will be deadlines for the songs you have to write if you are required to make an album. People will expect to see you smiling and happy always at the same time you want to have a good image for them. You have to inspire them. You have to entertain them. That’s part of your job and sometimes we might hate our job. That removes the fact that music can be your escape from reality.

Now I have a new question which needs an answer. How can I make music as a tool for escaping from reality where in fact it became part of my reality?

5 things that made me smile this week

Hello sweetpeeps!

So I’ve decided that this day (Saturday) will be a day of the week wherein I will be stating 5 good things that made me smile the past week. You may ask, why saturday? Well, I don’t know also. I just felt like it haha. Saturday here in UAE is the start of another week so this may be the perfect day to internalize what had happened the past week. Agree or disagree? If you have any suggestions on which day I should post this segment then let me know by commenting below!

So let me start this week with this. I hope this will make you smile too!

Happy pill #1

Holiday off! I am working in a medical clinic so even if there’s holiday we don’t take day off. When you work on a holiday, it will be counted as an overtime but not for an overtime pay. You will be receiving 12 hours off in exchange of your overtime. But I did not took that chance to have that 4 hours excess. haha I just want to feel that two days straight without work. Just eat and sleep. It was aweeeeesome. Since I also don’t have school that day. I just slept the whole day and pig out in between.

Happy pill #2

FOOD! On my day off, me and my brother took the chance to go out and eat at RICE OVERDOSE. It’s a Philippine Restaurant in Abu Dhabi. I think it is the only restaurant here in UAE offering “Isaw“, a famous filipino street food. They also offer Bibinka Halo halo and a lot more. Probably I’ll be writing a review of this restaurant ASAP.

Happy pill #3

This might be a little “why the hell did this make her smile?” bullet. I received a free nose piercing set from Blomdahl. Check their website they offer beautiful jewelries. Cool stuff! (I will be posting a little bit more about them as soon as I already tried the nose piercing.. that is IF I will try it).

Happy pill #4

Rahwie’s First Anniversary Party part 1. Boodle Fight. It has always been a tradition of the troop to have this boodle fight food party. I think we’ve already been doing this for five times and it’s always fun. Food plus Karaoke or Playing Jenga. Who wouldn’t smile if you’re in a food party with your favorite people.

What exactly is a boodle fight. It is a military style of eating wherein the food is served on a long table. Banana leaves will be used as a plate but in our case we just used a long plastic. Bare hards are used in eating. There’s no need for spoon and fork! Rice and Viands are scattered evenly on the leaves. It’s a fun way of eating with your friends and with your family!

Happy pill #5

Special USB. Every time we are having a get together, the camera of Rowie and Rahpy is always available for use, but we’re not hoping that the photos will be uploaded as soon as possible. haha I had a hint that she will do something like this. But I didn’t know that she will do it this time so I’m in a little bit of shock and excited. Each USB contains images arranged carefully by folders. Each folder for each event that occurred. It’s a very good gift idea in celebrating friendship!

So why smile? it is because …

Hello hello hello guys!

So a year had passed since I believe I first decided to do blogging and it’s a fun journey up until now. Although I did not gain that much of readers, still I’m happy because there are few people who reads and appreciates my blog posts.

On top of everything else, I would like to give my deepest gratitude to The Blogging Brunette for nominating me for the “Versatile Blogger Award”. Go and check her out!! She’s amazing. To be honest, I’m still a novice at this world of blogging so just a simple feedback from my readers and co-bloggers keep the life of my blog alive. I’m also very thankful for that.

So what is this award all about

Versatile Blogger Award — It is an award given by a blogger to another blogger which is new in the world of blogging to help them gain confidence and push them to do a good job on what they’re doing. It is also designed to help other bloggers be discovered.

I highly accept this award, but not without following the rules. So here it goes:

7 FACTS ABOUT ME

  • Fact #1 I’m 22 years old Filipina currently residing in UAE most specifically in Abu Dhabi. I believe that’s three facts on one bullet haha Just kidding. I wouldn’t be selfish this time. But yeah, I was 21 when I decided to go UAE to be with my mom and work as an OFW. That was a fast ride but believe me I didn’t thought about it for only one night.
  • Fact #2 My first love will always be art, the next one is music. They say, “First love never dies” but so as the saying “First loves doesn’t usually end up being together” haha  But you know what I believe in? Art will always be in my heart and my hands can still do it after some time of not practicing. That’s what love is. Sounds funny but seriously, I’m serious. The next one is music. Actually right now I’m currently with music. Which leads you to…
  • Fact #3  On my weekends I usually lock myself inside my room and make covers of beautiful songs. I have this dream of becoming a famous singer. I have this YouTube channel where I upload covers you can check it out if you want.
  • Fact #4 I HATE ENGLISH SUBJECT. That’s a hundred percent fact. When I was at school, when I said I was at school I meant my entire 16 years at school, I never loved this subject more that I love mathematics. I think it’s true that you can never love both.
  • Fact #5 Don’t invite me to go in an amusement park without being ready to go crazy on riding all extreme rides. I don’t go amusement parks that often so if ever I’m invited to go to one I will be really excited. I always make sure that I can be able to ride at all the extreme rides because I believe that’s what the place are for. I don’t want to regret anything after.
  • Fact #6 I love online games. Whether games at phone or PC. Currently, there are some mobile games that I am addicted to. Mobile Legends, Sims City, and my all time whenever-im-not-doing-anything-and-i-dont-have-internet-game favorite, Diner Dash. haha After once in a while I stop playing one and try to search for a new game after another and after another. I don’t know why. I’m a gamer. And that’s a fact.
  • Fact #7  This comes to all of my readers and co-bloggers. Every morning when I get up I always check my notifs. Every time I got a DING from wordpress I get really excited. I think it tickles me whenever I receive comments and stars on my contents. So don’t ever hesitate to give me a DING.  I will be very happy.
