Monday thoughts No.3: Beautiful from head to toe

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” — a famous Idiom which sounds simple but very meaningful.

Most of us, not only girls, often stare at the mirror and ask ourselves “Do I look beautiful?” “Do I look nice?” “Will my friends like my outfit?” ” Why does my face look big/small/black?” ” Why am I fat/so skinny?” “Why do I look ugly?” “Why do I have pimples?” and so on. Admit it or not, I know you ask yourself some of these questions maybe not all the time but some days of your whole existence. Well, I want you to know that you’re not alone. I’m here and a lot of girls, a lot of people, too asking the same questions over and over again.

But come to think about it, if one day you try to make yourself look nice by putting make up on, or dress in a different way there will always be that somebody who will not like it. For example one of your friends always compliments you and saying you’re beautiful even if you don’t put make up then suddenly you started putting some on. Maybe she will not like it.

This picture of a same girl with different style of make up on. All looks fine but to tell you the truth I can tell you what I think the most beautiful one to the least and my opinion might be different from yours.

People have different opinions as to what is attractive or not. You may look beautiful to others but may not look appealing to another. So what is the purpose on trying so hard to make yourself look beautiful? If the reason is just because you want to make others compliment you and praise you, frankly speaking, you’re just wasting your time.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not telling you to stop putting on make up or stop dressing yourself nicely. What I’m trying to convey is not to put too much effort on just trying to impress other people.

I’ll give you my personal rules of how to feel beautiful and how to be one.

Rule no. 1 DO NOT DRESS TO IMPRESS

Whether going to a party or just a simple gathering, it is not impossible that you want to show off. I can’t blame you with that. Sometimes I also feel the same way. But there is something I want you to understand. Dressing to impress will not make you completely happy. Why? because you are only doing it for other people. There comes the next rule.

Rule no. 2 DRESS FOR YOURSELF

As what I have stated in rule no. 1, you must keep in mind that you are not trying to be beautiful just to make other people be “WOWed” by your appearance. I believe I already said this before. If you read my old post, then this post will be just a reminder of that. Make yourself look presentable and neat so that others may respect you without letting go of being fashionable. Under this rule Iwill give some things that may benefit you if you keep in mind to dress for yourself.

  • to gain respect
  • to gain confidence
  • to feel comfortable ( which leads you to the third rule)

Rule no. 3 BEING COMFORTABLE OVER BEING FASHIONABLE

Being fashionable isn’t all about wearing what is trending or what is on style. You must never forget that you are supposed to be wearing what is comfortable for you. You will not dress up for just a 10 minute event, maybe you will, but not most of the time. You are wearing what you choose for maybe an hour or more so you must wear the clothes that you’ll never regret wearing after some time.

Rule no. 4 LESS IS MORE

This is my personal rule that you might want to apply too. Less color, less accessories, less make up, less of everything (but not of cloth haha) looks more appealing for me. But sometimes there are some styles that looks much better with more accessories on or with more skin like the boho style.

Rule no. 5 LOVE YOURSELF.

This rule is simple. Love yourself then all the rules will be easy afterwards. If you love yourself then you know how to dress up and you already know the reason why you want to look beautiful and presentable.

Rule no. 7 BE YOU

Nothings beats your personal taste of clothes. What you think is beautiful might really be beautiful. If you think it doesn’t look good then don’t wear it. If some accessories you wore doesn’t feel right then remove it. Trust your instinct.

The one very important key point of this context that I want you guys to remember is that, “Whatever you wear there will always be that somebody who will love it and compliment you, and that somebody who will not like it and say bad things about you. So don’t force yourself to wear what you think other people will like. Just trust yourself. Wear what you feel is right. And also, don’t forget to smile and always be confident.
